Washington School takes a strong stance on bullying and we are very proactive in delivering the anti-bullying message. Last year the school advertised for a group of anti-bullying mentors from the student population, whose job would be to promote the anti-bullying message as far and wide as possible.

The anti-bullying mentors have been busy making displays, videos, entering competitions and speaking in assemblies, they have even met a few famous faces along the way!

Towards the end of 2016 the Anti Bullying Mentors were awarded certificates for the film they participated in with St Benet’s Primary School and Sunderland People First.

For the second year running our Anti Bullying team have received an award at the Young Achievers Awards. This Award follows the students success at Sunderland Civic Centre in the Council chambers on Thursday 16th March, where they delivered a presentation to the Mayor and the Director of Education about their work on Cyber Safety. The students won an award on “A whole school approach to Cyber Safety”.
